Ridge Avenue Writer's Circle

NOTE: After almost three years of successful meetings, the Ridge Avenue Writer's Circle has decided to close. I'd like to thank all of you for the friendship, laughs, and excellent critique you've shared over the years, and I am incredibly grateful for the time we had to spend together.

If you are looking for a writing group, I would recommend the listings on Literary Philly!

If you'd like to help support an independent bookstore, please consider ordering from the Head & The Hand Bookstore here.

Founded in the Fall of 2017, the Ridge Avenue Writer's Circle was started with the goal of supporting local writers.  It is our core belief that building community amongst ourselves is a vital part of any writing practice, and this group seeks to create some of that community.

Are you looking for a space to share your work? Join us! We are a small group that meets monthly in the Head & The Hand Bookstore to critique each other's writing. Our meetings are typically two hours in duration, with each person bringing one piece to discuss.

Our approach to critique is centered around you - the first questions we ask are always: "What is your goal for this piece? What would you like us to focus on?" Through honest, positive critique we hope to help you grow in your writing practice...one draft at a time!

We welcome all, no matter how long you've been writing, what type of writing you create, or your goals as a writer/poet. And best of all: our group is totally free.
Diversity Statement: Your experience is important to me. We welcome members from all backgrounds/identities - for example (though certainly not limited to): race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, or ability. We recognize that no individual is the sum of their parts, and each one of us has complex experiences that informs their practice.

That being said, life is a process of learning, and your suggestions are encouraged and appreciated. Please let me know ways to improve the effectiveness of the group for you personally or for others. I always welcome feedback!
